Arrival in Europe

Bonjour!

I have made it to the interesting continent of Europe.  My plane landed in London August 17th at about 1:30 in the afternoon.  Even after lighting storms held me over in Minnesota for awhile the pilots made some good time and I was able to see some London before it was to late. I say the continent of Europe so far is interesting for a couple of reasons.  One is you have these really old buildings (an example is Britain's House of Parliament, more people know it as "Big Ben")  and than right next door is newly constructed buildings.  Plus the roadways in different locations consist of asphalt, cobblestone, or the mix of the two.  Another interesting point is that in listening to other people, English is not the main language being spoken.  You can speak to them in English and they do convert to that language when needed, but its not their first choice to speak.  From what I know about other languages, there is a lot of Celtic variations and French being spoken (hence the greeting).  So far I have just seen some of the tourist area in London (Big Ben, Waterloo station, House of Commons, etc.).  Today will continue visiting London and than purchase some train tickets to start heading down south into other countries.  Where eventually English will become less and less common, but that is one main reason I have made this trip: to learn more language (specifically Arabic, but that will still have to wait).  Hopefully everyone is enjoying the warm weather in the states wherever you may live, because it does get quite cold on this continent.  Well off to get some breakfast and tea.

p.s.- pictures will come shortly, still need to figure out how to work them
